Provenance across owners

A registered watch changes hands more than once over its life. SerialProof preserves that chain without altering the underlying serial or certificate.

Each entry in the registry stays bound to its serial number for the life of the watch. What changes on transfer is the record of custody attached to that entry, not the entry itself; authenticity and history carry forward to each successive custodian, undiminished.

Additional capabilities

Ownership transfer

Formal ownership transfer is available by arrangement, at the request of the maison. It sits outside the standard registry and is not enabled by default; maisons that require it can arrange it directly.

Common questions

What happens to the certificate when a watch is sold?
The watch is passed on together with its certificate – the NFC card – which travels with the piece. The record stays bound to the watch's serial: authenticity and history carry forward to each successive custodian, while the entry itself does not change.
Will the next owner see who held the watch before?
No. Where ownership is recorded at all, it is held privately and never shown on a public verification.
Can ownership be recorded formally in the registry?
Formal ownership transfer is available by arrangement, at the request of the maison. It sits outside the standard registry.
Does the card help prove authenticity when reselling?
Yes. The card is the watch's proof of authenticity at resale: a prospective buyer can verify the serial against the registry before purchase, and the certificate shows the date of first registration, from when the watch was new.
